Arsenal thrash Chelsea 5-0 in historic victory
Second half strikes stun Blues at Emirates Stadium
Arsenal enjoyed their biggest ever victory against Chelsea as they ran out 5-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Leandro Trossard, Ben White, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah sealed a stunning victory for the Gunners, who moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
It was also Chelsea's heaviest defeat in a London derby, and their first loss to Arsenal in any competition since 2019.
The Gunners started brightly and took the lead through Trossard in the 14th minute, with the Belgian finishing off a fine team move.
White doubled the lead just before half-time, heading home from a corner to put Arsenal in control.
Chelsea improved after the break but were unable to find a way back into the game, and Arsenal took full advantage to add three more goals in the second half.
Saka made it 3-0 in the 56th minute, finishing off a counter-attack led by Martinelli.
Martinelli then got on the scoresheet himself in the 68th minute, tapping home after good work from Saka.
Nketiah completed the rout in the 89th minute, scoring from close range after being set up by Martinelli.
The victory was Arsenal's biggest ever against Chelsea, and it moved them three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Chelsea, meanwhile, remain in 10th place, and their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season are now in serious doubt.
