Surrey batter Jordan Clark hits unbeaten double century on day one
Division Two leaders Surrey dominated day one of their LV= Insurance County Championship match against Durham at the Emirates Riverside.
Resuming on 335-6, thanks largely to Jordan Clark's unbeaten 163, Surrey extended their overnight advantage to 243.
Clark reached his double hundred from 252 balls with 20 fours and two sixes.
Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes contributed 43 before he was caught behind off the bowling of Matthew Potts.
Jamie Overton struck twice in the space of three deliveries to remove Alex Lees for a duck and Michael Jones for two as Durham slipped to 21-2.
Nick Potts and Ned Eckersley steadied the ship with a third-wicket partnership of 56.
But Cameron Steel's introduction into the attack proved fruitful as he dismissed Potts for 30 and Eckersley for 24.
Durham closed the day on 85-4 with David Bedingham 14 not out and Sean Dickson yet to score.
